Planting began early but within the typical timeframe for recent years. In some regions, it started in the third decade of July. The campaign is proceeding under favorable agroclimatic conditions. Thanks to sufficient soil moisture in most of Continental’s divisions, there is a high probability that, given these planting dates, the rapeseed will produce sufficient, uniform and even emergence before the August heat sets in. The main planting will continue throughout the first and second decades of August.
Kostiantyn Shytiuk, Chief Operating Officer of Continental Farmers Group, commented on the start of the planting season as follows: “As we begin planting the new winter rapeseed crop, we are focusing as much as possible on controlling planting conditions and ensuring high-quality planting, which will guarantee proper germination. In our experience, this is the key to the crops’ potential and successful overwintering. Planting of grain crops will begin as scheduled in early September, once the fields have been cleared of previous crops. We have traditionally structured our operational plans based on a proven balance in crop rotation.”
The main factors influencing the progress of fieldwork remain the weather and economic challenges. At Continental, we took logistical risks into account during the preparation phase for the planting campaign, and we are minimizing the impact of rising prices for mineral fertilizers and other resources by optimizing costs and integrating the best cutting-edge solutions into our cultivation technology.
