“We crossed the equator of this year`s harvest: the first wave has been completed with a good result. We are satisfied with the yield for all crops, as there were certain risks because of the dry spring. We ship the collected to our elevators, which were prepared for the season in advance. Given the favourable weather, the digging of potatoes has been started recently. The peak of the second wave of harvest is expected at the end of September - the beginning of October. Among the late crops, we have sunflower, corn, soybeans, buckwheat and beets,” noted Vitalii Stavnichuk, Chief Operating Officer of the Continental Farmers Group.
At the same time, the sowing of winter crops for the 2023 harvest continues on the Company`s fields. Sowing of rapeseed on an area of 35.2 thousand hectares is being completed. Wheat, which occupies the largest share in the structure of winter crops — 42.3 thousand hectares, and barley on 16.1 thousand hectares — will be sown next. The Company notes, that given the weather conditions during this sowing period, maximum emphasis is placed on moisture conservation. In the work, production technologies are used depending on the type of planters involved in the work. This is either classic cultivation with Horsch Tiger cultivators and sowing with Horsch Pronto planters, or conditional direct sowing, which is carried out immediately after harvesting wheat and barley with Horsch Focus and Claydon Hybrid 6T planters.
