In addition, important food crops, such as potatoes and sugar beets, are being actively harvested on Continental's fields. In total, this year the company plans to harvest sugar beet from 1 thousand hectares, and chip, seed and food potatoes varieties from a total area of 2.1 thousand hectares: more than 1.4 thousand hectares in the Lviv region and more than 720 hectares in the Ternopil region.
According to Orest Kravchuk, Head of the Cluster Potato, this year's potato yields in the company are significantly higher than expected.
"Despite a rather difficult season, in particular, the late planting period, thanks to favorable weather conditions, efficient technology and the correct work of the agronomic service, we get an average yield of different types of potatoes of 6-8 t/ha higher than the forecast. We are now actively digging up chip and seed potatoes. We plan to finish harvesting food varieties, which are less sensitive to temperature fluctuations, by the end of October," commented Orest Kravchuk.
Alongside the second wave of harvesting, the company is completing sowing of winter crops for the 2024 harvest. We have already sown all the planned areas for winter rapeseed and barley, and winter wheat sowing is nearing its completion.
