For a third year in a row, the Continental Farmers Group has been implementing the Lime Tree Marathon environmental campaign. Under this project, Company employees, together with beekeepers and local communities, have been planting honey trees in the territories of Continental Farmers Group business operations. This year, over three thousand lime tree saplings were planted in the Khmelnytsk and Ternopil Oblasts while, over the 3-year period of project implementation, almost 8.5 thousand trees were planted. Thus, the Continental Farmers Group not only performs some greening of the territories of the communities but also supports the development of beekeeping.

“Our Company has established a fruitful cooperation with beekeepers and actively supports the development of beekeeping in the Oblasts where it carries out its business operations. With the support from the Continental Farmers Group, 13 beeyard cooperatives have already been established and the first in Ukraine interactive map of honey plants was developed. Such cooperation ensures benefits to both parties: to the Company, it means pollinating its fields and, to the beekeepers, a possibility of gathering more honey and receiving additional profits. The winners under such circumstances are also the local communities in whose territories we jointly plant trees,” Nonna Smidik, Continental Farmers Group Director of Communications and Social Projects, noted.

Representatives of local governments determine the places where the trees are to be planted and this is performed in cooperation with the forestry farms. Involved in the event are the employees of the Continental Farmers Group, beekeepers, schoolchildren and local residents who care about the environment and these activities. Since the beginning of the Lime Tree Marathon, the Continental Farmers Group has purchased saplings for UAH 283 000, which the Company handed over to the local communities.
