According to preliminary data, more than 90% of Continental's winter crops are in good condition, and about 10% are in satisfactory condition. Crop losses during the winter period were avoided, and weather conditions in the regions where the Company operates were favourable even for late crops, allowing them to reach optimal development stages before entering winter dormancy.
"We did not observe any critical temperature drops this winter. And the January frosts did not pose a threat to our winter crops, as they were covered with snow," comments Kostiantyn Shytiuk, COO of Continental. "Only a small part of wheat crops (mostly the latest ones) showed a slightly weaker development or insufficient plant density. But this should not affect the yield potential. At the moment, we are confidently preparing for the spring field work, carrying out the first nitrogen fertilization and ammonium sulphate fertilization. Soil moisture accumulation was intense in almost all regions during the autumn-winter period, so this should create favourable conditions for crop development during the first part of their growing season. As of now, we assess the condition of all winter crops as satisfactory to achieve the planned yield results."
As a reminder, the total area under winter crops for the 2024 harvest in Continental Farmers Group is 89.5 thou hectares. Of these, 43.2 thou hectares of winter wheat, 33.4 thou hectares of winter rapeseed and 12.9 thou hectares of winter barley.
